My work is based on the visualisation
of technological and economic hegemony in
contemporary society. I am investigating the different elements
of the sociological world [exterior] and how these are related
by a continual exchange to the social / technological / economical
and political constructed individual identity [interior].
Hereby is the total technological and industrial hegemony
in society [a.o. mass media], resulting in the thesis -
"Reality is fiction and Fiction is reality"
- , an often returning subject matter in my work. This thesis
contains a.o. that an artificial reality is created, by which
we become an artificial social identity, thus forming the
basis of the individual identity.
This complex identity construction - a crucial problem - and
the questions that arise in this concept, keeps me fascinated
and is the most important reason for researching this situation.
Hereby I use images of : a.o. architecture, technology, history
of art, mass culture, industrial signs and language.
In my work I refer a.o. to the collective fears and
desires in contemporary society and the macro-economic
drama. I investigate the connection [links] between these
elements and their implications by equalizing several layers
of meaning in a twodimensional plane. Meanings of concepts
as exterior-interior, figurative-abstract, shift and the meaning
of the image can move within a continuum [flows].
In this way I wish to create a shift of wellknown definitions
[opinions about ideas as "contradictions"] and I
will be able to visualize an exchange between the public and
the individual world [spheres]. I use the geometrical art
as a social landscape.
It is more the - measuring up -, than a method
to offer a solution for these problems.

[Between Stations]
My latest work is based on investigating the influence of
modern culture and technology on communication. This series
of paintings of monochrome planes and use of urban architectural
strategies based on aspects of - landscape - present a social
landscape.
The channels represent the [over] > flow of information-streams
in contemporary society. For the channels I use - seductive
- [contradicting] colours: sweet, fresh and bright. Despite
the increase of the information-load, communicating all
this seems to be more and more difficult.
My paintings are not only concerned with addressing the
idea of alienation of the individual in urbanity, but also
to enlarge [or magnify] and dramatise isolation
[or isolate drama]. But there is a given
choise - a way in or a way out
- .
In my work I wish to reflect the - desire
for individuality - and the consuming choises.
The combination of the planes and the placing of the channels
[conduits], are painted in a schematic and geometrical form,
and are referring to details of an archtectural plan; a
cross-section or a view from above [birdseye view], depending
on the view-point.

europeo.
I canali rappresentano l'eccesso di correnti di informazioni
nella società"
